The summer of 1952 I worked on my aunt and uncle’s farm near Imperial, Nebraska. They had unusual success with their wheat crop that year and decided that we would take an extended trip to the southwest region of the United States. We had many UFO encounters along the way. When we were at an Indian reservation north of Santa Fe, New Mexico the two adults decided to have some drinks at a local reservation bar. (In those days bars were allowed on reservations.)
My three young cousins and I were to stay by the car (which was very acceptable in those days). As the evening got dark we heard a roaring sound. We looked up and saw a large portion of the sky was churning with large dark clouds. As the churning began to slow down, we noticed a volume of luminous distorted atmosphere begin to develop with a hissing and low roar near us. Out of the luminous blue haze slowly developed these three craft not more than 15 feet away from us.
The entire sequence of course was shocking; but what was most astonishing was the fact the craft appeared to be totally black like a void. Yet each had two dim lights, like the headlights of a car, pointing straight ahead of them. When they got very close, my two cousins knelt down to get a better look at them…and we got so frightened we went into the bar to retrieve my aunt and uncle. As we all went back to see the craft, they appeared to be more metallic and further away. Very soon they faded back into the black night air.
We had other encounters with strange craft, mysterious men, and “the voice” before we arrived at the reservation…and after we left the reservation during this very lengthy eventful trip.
